Special Purpose Keywords for Searching:

This website documents the published, peer-reviewed efforts of the Model Spinal Cord Injury Systems from 2000 to present. This Model Systems bibliography includes peer reviewed journal articles on traumatic spinal cord injury. These scientific efforts by each Center are the result of being designated by NIDRR as a Model SCI System and encompass research beyond the scope of direct Model System funding.

NOTE: The discussion below and the list of additional keywords created applies only to the published, peer-reviewed efforts of the Model Spinal Cord Injury Systems from 2000 to present. Articles from 2000 to September 1, 2001 have center level coding but may not have the full coding. Those articles from prior model systems grants (1999 and earlier) do not have these additional keywords associated with them.

In order to retrieve the citations of those authors or research projects funded directly by NIDRR or retrieve publications in which the Model SCI System database was used, the following codes have been added to the keywords.

NIDRRFUNDED-AUTHORAny author in the publication receives direct funding from NIDRR
NIDRRFUNDED-PROJECTThe project was funded and was part of a center's original grant proposal.
NIDRRFUNDED-DATASETThe publication uses data from the Model SCI System database

Two other codes have been added to the keywords. One to verify whether or not a copy of the publication has been sent to NARIC and the other to document if NIDRR was given credit for supporting the publication. They are:

SENTTONARIC This verifies that a copy of the publication was sent to NARIC
GRANT#FOOTNOTEDThis verifies that a statement was included in the publication that the work was supported by NIDRR and the grant number was listed.

We have also added a keyword for each of the Model SCI Systems so that you would be able to retrieve citations by Center. They are as follows:

MSCIS-ANN ARBORUniversity of Michigan Model Spinal Cord Injury Care System
MSCIS-ATLANTAGeorgia Regional Spinal Cord Injury Care System
